Where I came from, Who I am, and Where I am going...
My name is Tahid Rucker, a native of Richmond County, NC. I graduated from Richmond Senior High School in May 2000 at the age of 18. From June 1999 to August 2004 I worked at Food Lion providing exceptional customer service to those in the community. My entire life I always wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement & at the age of 22 my career in law enforcement began.
In August 2004, I was hired as a Jailor for Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. In June of 2008, I was promoted to Deputy where I served warrants & civil papers. In January 2010, I was promoted to Detective in the Vice Narcotics Unit, investigating calls pertaining to narcotics, operated audio & video equipment needed to effectuate controlled buys, executed search warrants & participated in community service events. Following this promotion, in March 2015 I was then promoted to Detective Sergeant in the Vice Narcotics Unit.
While serving as Detective Sergeant in the Vice Narcotics Unit my leadership skills were vital. I supervised 3-4 detectives in the unit, proofread reports, coordinated with various task force & agencies in North Carolina to execute search warrants & coordinated and facilitated community outreach programs. In September 2021, I transitioned to Assistant Jail Administrator. This job required me to oversee the daily administration of the Richmond County Jail including but not limited to: managing 10-15 jail staff, processing inmates, hourly checks of the inmates, feeding and transporting inmates to court & medical appointments & organizing & facilitating outreach programs with the middle & high schools in the county. In September 2024 I transitioned to Scotland County to serve.
Following my transition to Scotland County, I became a Scotland County School Resource Officer In February of 2024, enhancing safety & building positive relationships with students & staff. In September 2024 I became Jail Administrator of the Scotland County Jail as Captain over the jail and courthouse security overseeing personnel, jail staff & inmates.
Over my twenty-one years in law enforcement, I have served in many capacities & gained knowledge & skills. This experience has helped me grow & learn what is needed to help build a better community. My goal is to be a servant to the citizens of Richmond County. I plan to educate, support, reduce crimes & become a stepping stool for our youth. With your votes & support, I can become Sheriff of Richmond County, respecting others, remaining loyal & maintaining mutual respect with our community & law enforcement.
